Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is also called ubiquinone because it is so widespread (ubiquitous) in
the body. Concentrated in the heart, CoQ10 is prescribed worldwide as a
tonic for heart function. It also aids the transformation of food into
adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, the energy our bodies run on.

Weight Loss with CoQ10
CoQ10 group lost 30 lbs. in nine weeks
Good news! Clinical studies show that there may be a link between successful
weight loss and CoQ10. Scientists have found that CoQ10 is an essential
compound required in the breakdown of fat into energy. In one study, nine
individuals were given 100 mg of CoQ10 a day (five of which had low levels of
CoQ10) along with a low calorie diet. Nine weeks later, subjects with low CoQ10
had lost 30 lbs, while those with initially normal levels of CoQ10 lost only 13
lbs. From these results, scientists noted that perhaps 50% of overweight
individuals may have low levels of CoQ10. A supplementation of 100 mg of CoQ10
daily, along with a low calorie diet and exercise program, may accelerate
weight loss.
